Week 22 ~ Memorial ~

In 1837 a trapper named Peter Lebeck was killed by a grizzly bear in the Tejon pass, about an hour away from here. The pass is still a major thoroughfare, intestate I-5, the major north south route for California, goes through there now. There are no more grizzly bear in California, we do, however, have black bears that wander into town here and even into L.A. from time to time, they love to take a dip in back yard pools.
