TAKEN ON WEDNESDAY 28:03:2012 ON A WALK FROM PORLOCK TO PORLOCK WEIR OVER THE SALT MARSHES. OUR VERY HIGH HIGH TIDES (SECOND HIGHEST IN THE WORLD) ARE RECLAIMING LAND QUITE RAPIDLY - SO UNDER A LATE AFTERNOON AQUAMARINE SKY WE PONDERED WHAT'S HAPPENING AS MARINE MEETS LAND.
Lizzie, pretty sky, strange tide...
ReplyDeleteThis looks like it was an interesting place to explore on such a pretty day. Love the aquamarine sky! Why do they think this may be happening?
ReplyDeleteNow you have us pondering LiZZie!
ReplyDeleteOver 500 years ago there was a tsunami in the Bristol Channel. I guess as the shoreline creeps further inland where I am the corresponding shoreline thirty miles across the channel in Wales may be moving out. Natural erosion, it's well known that hundreds of years ago the sea came inland a couple of miles, there are ruins of ancient jetties and harbours all along this part of the coast. It's a sea lane up a long estuary towards Bristol, a major port, from the Atlantic. I want to go and find a petrified forest when the tides well out some time.
ReplyDeleteThis must be such an interesting area! The forest would be a fantastic find!! Good luck!
